Explanation of the book
Section: Thought and philosophy
Number of pages: 244 pages
The book deals in depth with the concept of terror from a philosophical point of view, as an existential phenomenon that opens up to a psychological understanding of man, as it links the fields of dogma and psychology together, to illuminate different themes revolving around man’s original sin, then man’s choice of his freedom and the terror that accompanies or precedes both, and finally how man’s sin can be forgiven.
Many philosophers who came after Kierkegaard have benefited from The Concept of Terror, and I mention here in particular the German philosopher Martin Heidegger, especially in his book Being and Time. He also paved the way, long before Sigmund Freud, for psychology to address and discuss one of the issues that preoccupy man, namely his constant fear and instability from something that may be inside him originally.
