The book deals with many important topics related to Iraq in the last century, such as British interests in it, how it was occupied, the mandate system was imposed on it, the formation of national rule in it, the enactment of the basic law of its state, and it explains its relations with foreign countries in general, and with the British state in particular, and how it was liberated from it and its democratic organizations were established on the basis on which it was established.
Chapter One: It includes the ancient history of Iraq and a brief overview of the countries that were established on its land, starting with the Sumerians and Akkadians and ending with the Ottoman occupation and Iraq’s separation from the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of national rule in it. Chapter Two: The author Al-Hasani presented British interests in India and Iraq, explaining the three ways in which India could be attacked. Chapter Three: He dealt with the occupation of Iraq by British forces and presented in some detail the conflicting foreign interests coveting Mesopotamia and its expected natural resources. Chapter Four: He spoke about the mandate system, the policy of colonialism, Arab cooperation with the Allies, and how the idea of mandate emerged as an alternative to the word occupation. Chapter Five: It is concerned with the Great Iraqi Revolution that broke out on June 30, 1920. Chapter Six: The author Al-Hasani presented the provisional government and how Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein was elected King of Iraq. Chapter Seven: It is related to the Iraqi Basic Law
