Explanation of the book
Section : CV
Number of pages: 480 pages
The book tells the life story of Helen Keller, the blind and deaf American girl who lost her sight and hearing completely at the age of nineteen months due to an illness that afflicted her, but that did not prevent her from learning and obtaining the highest academic degrees from the most prestigious colleges in the United States of America. She was thus the first blind person to obtain a bachelor’s degree, and the credit for that goes to her teacher, Miss “Anne Sullivan,” who began her journey in teaching Helen Keller when Helen was seven years old. She taught her the language of the deaf, which is speaking by patting the ends of the fingers, and the method of reading for the blind, which is Braille.
The book also covers the letters Helen Keller sent to her family and friends, many of whom were famous figures in literature and science. These letters show the refined language Helen Keller used to write in, which even surpassed that of her teacher. This is also due to her teacher, Miss Sullivan, who used to choose the most refined literature for Helen to read, which influenced her writing style.
