A Theory of Interpretation... Reading the history of Al-Ghazali's thought has taken two contradictory paths. In the first path, Al-Ghazali represents a dark link in the history of Islamic thought, and dictates that the future be a critique of the past and better than it, while the second path looks at Al-Ghazali's thought with respect, reverence and sanctification, in accordance with the saying "Nothing is possible that is better than what was."

The problem of interpretation in Imam Al-Ghazali did not receive the research it requires except in a small number of studies by contemporary Arab researchers, some of which did not intend Al-Ghazali in and of himself, while the matter was like that in some others, but without the focus of the problem being interpretation, which alerted us to the importance of focusing on studying the interpretations of “Hujjat al-Islam” away from inconclusive and unscientific statements.
