A girl lost in the twentieth century

Another important novel by the Portuguese writer Gonçalo M. Tavares (1970), a novelist who was introduced to our Arab world late, although his books have been translated into all the languages ​​of the world, and many critics refer to him as the successor of the great novelist José Saramago. The novel is the culmination of the novelist's efforts over many years, and it is one of his last literary works after his long work (Al-Hay) consisting of short stories, as well as his short story work (Fake Tales) which we recently translated and was published by Dar Al-Rafidain. The novel (A Girl Lost in the Twentieth Century), which is translated from Spanish here, has a continuation in its Portuguese text which is (A Girl Lost in the Twentieth Century Searching for Her Father), and the entire novel revolves around that strange, silent little girl in her search for traces of her father in times of wars and malicious human labyrinths. The significant characters in it try to reveal the effects of the human soul in times of cruelty, destruction and deadly wars. All these characters, whether we sympathize with them or not, we will find in them a few of us scattered here and there. Human souls are similar in their joy and their cruelty. This novelistic effort will be a shining eye to point out our terrible mistakes in times not far from us.
