أوهام ما بعد الحداثة - ArabiskaBazar - أرابيسكابازار
Explanation of the book

Section: Political Books

Number of pages: 223 pages

The book explores the illusions of postmodernism, its origins, and its tensions and contradictions. Its main concern, however, is not with postmodern philosophy in its complex forms, but with postmodern culture and its environment as a whole. It is addressed in particular to students of postmodern thought and to consumers of its popular wares. Despite its generally negative view of postmodernism, the author points out its strengths as well as its weaknesses. He does not merely expose its illusions; he shows his readers, who have believed much of the falsehood in this regard, that they never really believed it. In this context, Eagleton’s talent for satire and irony continues to entertain the reader, while his moral commitment and vision of a just society continue to inspire this reader to refuse to submit to “the terrifying chaos that is the contemporary world.”
