The book stops at the most important stations in Ataturk's school life in his childhood and youth, then in his military life during which he moved between different war fronts defending the Ottoman Empire, and finally traces his political life until the establishment of the modern Turkish state and the declaration of the republic. The book is based on important documents from the German archives, and others from the Turkish archives, most of which have not been published or studied, in addition to many published and unpublished memoirs of German and Turkish figures who played an important role in the political and cultural life of that era.
