Gustave Le Bon, in his book The Current Development of the World, believes that future wars will not be limited to weapons, but will go beyond that, considering that economic wars are more severe and fierce. In this context, the writer admits that if Germany, in the midst of World War I, had been content with waging an economic war without resorting to a military war, it would have been the victor today, and the Allies would have suffered a crushing defeat. Moreover, if the future of wars depends exclusively on economic power, this means that alliances will not remain the same, as today's allies are tomorrow's enemies, and vice versa.
