The book aims to shed light on the effects of the plague in the Umayyad state, by studying its impact on the demographic conditions in that era, and its repercussions on the social, economic and political systems and conditions in the countries of the state and its regions, in the Levant, Iraq, Egypt and North Africa, i.e. the capitals of the Caliphate that witnessed, more than others, great catastrophic waves of the plague, the most prominent of which was the sweeping plague of Ibn al-Zubayr, and the plague of Muslim ibn Qutaybah, which concluded the Umayyad era.
