Explanation of the book
A very special novel, written by one of the most important novelists in Mexico. Each chapter begins with a traditional recipe from northern Mexico, and cooking becomes the only means of expression available to the protagonist, who does not adhere to the role that society and family have assigned to her. Tita remains a prisoner of a destiny that was decided since her birth: family tradition requires the youngest daughter to reject marriage and devote herself to caring for her mother. But Tita falls in love with Pedro, her lover and the husband of her older sister.
