This book is one of the most important orientalist works that dealt with Ottoman history from a general perspective. It was written by the English historian Sir Edward Shepherd Cresey in the mid-nineteenth century. The book is divided into twenty-five chapters, most of which follow the chronological order of events, with the exception of some chapters in which light is shed on certain details related to the administrative or military systems of the state and its development. Edward Creasy relied mainly on von Hammer, or in other words, followed his path in writing Ottoman history until 1774 AD.
