Sultan Selim achieved a decisive victory against the Safavid army in the Battle of Chaldiran in 1514, and erased Shah Ismail from the pages of history, and thus there was no rebellion or chaos left in the state, and the Sultan permanently preserved the unity of Anatolia in an atmosphere of security and tranquility. The Sultan extended his control over the Diyarbakir Citadel, annexed the states of southeastern Anatolia to the Ottoman Empire, also conquered the Arab countries, annexed Aleppo and the Levant, and visited Al-Aqsa Mosque.
