This book of ours contributes to clarifying the features of Western modernity and post-modernism, and to clarifying the characteristics and importance of each stage. We hope that this book of ours will be a serious philosophical attempt, and an actual contribution to enriching the Arab library with a book whose goal does not stop at the limits of knowing the thought and culture of the other. As for the studies between the covers of this book, some of them study some issues and concepts related to modernity and post-modernity such as the concept of lights, the state, colonialism and post-colonialism, the environment and others, and some of them are concerned with studying some models of thinkers who established the critical review of modernity. Such as Heidegger, or those who supported the project of modernity such as Habermas, or those who theorized post-modern thought such as François Lyotard
