Explanation of the book

Novel for young adults

Age 8 to 13 years

The author divided it into eighteen panels, to tell us a story of heroism distributed among more than one person, a story of struggle that carries more than one educational value and teaching values, which adults derive from the biography of their fathers and grandfathers, although the main heroism in it is for the narrator who spoke in the language of “I”. The novel begins with the panel (Our Beautiful Home) where the child describes in a narrative style his family’s beautiful rural home surrounded by a beautiful garden, planted with roses, trees and vegetables, but what is striking in it is the “apple tree” that the grandmother planted, and although paralysis began to eat away at its branches, the father refused to let it go. The educational message here is the necessity of caring for fathers and grandfathers in their old age until God takes them. As for the second panel (Butterflies of the Garden), it celebrates the beauty of nature, and the beauty of this multi-colored insect, but it lost its luster and beauty when the child narrator “locked it up” in his room, and it did not regain its health until he released it. In this panel, the novelist highlights the meaning of freedom.
