Kafka's first novel, also known as The Man Who Disappeared, was written by Kafka from 1911 to 1914, and the first edition appeared in 1927, after Kafka's death. In various interviews, Kafka often referred to the book as his "American novel", and the first chapter of the novel appeared separately in Kafka's Life in 1913 under the title "The Stoker". The novel includes many details about the experiences of Kafka's relatives in America.
