Announcing the launch of the Copenhagen Arab Book Fair
The Danish capital, Copenhagen, is hosting the first edition of the Copenhagen Arabic Book Fair 2019, which will be held from November 29 to December 1, at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Cultural Center, one of the largest cultural centers in Europe.
In turn, Alaa Al-Barghouthi, Director of the Copenhagen Arab Book Fair, pointed out the importance of the strategic location of the venue for the first session of the fair in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, due to the vital location of the capital, which includes Copenhagen International Airport, which is the most important air port in the Scandinavian countries, in addition to the presence of the Oresund Bridge, which connects the Danish capital to the city of Malmö in southern Sweden, which has a large Arab community, and which constitutes an additional segment to the Arab presence in Copenhagen.
Regarding the exhibition, Al-Barghouthi announced that the first session will be held under the sponsorship of the Hamad Bin Khalifa Cultural Center, which is one of the largest Arab cultural centers in Europe, where an area of 1,000 square meters will be allocated to hold the exhibition, in addition to a theater and a number of halls to hold lectures, seminars, and workshops accompanying the exhibition.
Regarding publishing houses, Al-Barghouthi said, “We have so far received confirmations from about 84 Arab publishing houses from Qatar, the Gulf States, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq,” announcing that the registration period for the exhibition will continue until Sunday, September 23.
Al-Barghouthi pointed out that the exhibition will be accompanied by a rich and diverse cultural program with the presence of a group of guests who will be announced later. Al-Barghouthi also confirmed that an entire day of the exhibition will be dedicated to holding activities for children, including theatrical performances and telling Arabic stories in interesting ways.
In addition, Al-Barghouthi noted that Nordic Digital Word will carry out the logistical and organizational work for the exhibition, noting the presence of one of the most important European websites specialized in marketing Arabic books in Europe and the Scandinavian countries, which is the Arabesca Bazaar website, which will constitute a digital platform to assist publishing houses in marketing their books through the digital space during the days of the exhibition.
