The War of the Five Kings is still raging, and all parts of the Seven Kingdoms suffer from it except for a little bit. On the Iron Throne sits the boy king Joffrey while his grandfather, the Hand of the King, seeks to secure his rule, and then secure power for the Lannisters, plotting to eliminate Stannis Baratheon, who emerged from the Battle of the Black River, and the young wolf, Robb Stark, who leads a campaign in the West, even though he has lost his homeland. In the north, meanwhile, the exiled queen Daenerys is making her way to another continent with the three living dragons, the only ones in the world.
