Maxim Gorky tries, through his novel, to highlight that revolutionary workers' vanguard, which is of a new type, so he included in his novel the political experience of the years of the Russian workers' revolution. And to this political consciousness his heroes owed their greatness and their truth, the truth of history. For this reason, the construction of this novel was not based on a complex that would unravel and complicate personal destinies. Rather, Gorky built it on the growth of natural bonds in which personal destinies reflect the contradictions between them. The characteristics and inner richness of each of the protagonists of the novel, and his ability to open up to life, and to influence it, are all clarified through the development of events that end with Paul and Andreev dreaming of arresting the mother, but this defeat does not weaken anything from the confidence in the final text, the victory of the human values that they carry in their depths.
