In the first chapter: Uprooting and Diaspora: A Theoretical Introduction, the writer Shafiq Al-Ghabra presents an important and undocumented aspect of the Palestinian diaspora and its complex paths, focusing on the role of ties at the family level in particular, and at the level of village and town relations, in preserving, rebuilding and shaping the Palestinian social fabric in new countries. It also stops at the concept of the non-state that controls the Palestinian situation, and discusses the nature of the Palestinian familial society, which was uprooted in 1948, to conduct a review of the theoretical literature from two parts: the family as an economic and social unit; and migration from the countryside to the city in the context of the tactics used by the displaced in similar situations out of the motive of adaptation and self-preservation
